The Professional Rugby Players' Association (PRA) are delighted to announce the PRA Benevolent Fund, The Players' Charity will be one of the main beneficiaries of the 2009 Bournemouth Sevens Festival.
The Bournemouth Sevens Festival launched last summer, and immediately became the largest rugby festival in Europe attracting 96 competing teams and over 12,000 fans in its first year.
This season's Bournemouth Sevens Festival will be held from 22nd-24th May, and will include entertainment and music as well as rugby and netball tournaments, all taking place in the picturesque surroundings of Bournemouth Sports Club
Roger Woodall, Director of Diamond Sports Events and founder of the Bournemouth Sevens Festival said: "It's great for us to be supporting the PRA Benevolent Fund - the players charity - as they are so closely linked to the Festival. Bournemouth Sevens has grown dramatically in only its second year, with 220 teams competing and 20,000 people anticipated over the May Bank Holiday, and we hope to raise much needed funds to help those professional players who have had to retire due to serious injury or illness"
Damian Hopley, CEO of the PRA said: "Now in its second year, the Bournemouth Sevens is a fantastic festival of rugby and we are delighted the PRA Benevolent Fund has been nominated as a beneficiary of the event. Several leading professional players from the Guinness Premiership will be attending over the weekend to enjoy the fantastic atmosphere and hospitality that the Bournemouth Sevens offers."
