The sessions have proved a roaring success, with 18 Saracens players signing up to take a further qualification in Basic Construction Skills, which they will complete at Oaklands College during the Spring.
RPA Player Development Manager Matt Allen said: “This opportunity was organised in association with Saracens as part of the RPA’s ongoing Player Development Programme, which seeks to offer opportunities, advice, guidance and support to our members as they prepare for careers after rugby.
“Throughout each season the RPA organises opportunities for players to experience a variety of careers, from coaching and teaching, through City and financial posts to construction and building trades.
“We are delighted that the players got so much out of this session, and that so many of them signed up for a further qualification in construction as a result. It is a course ideally suited to professional sportsmen, as it is organised to allow players to study alongside fulfilling their playing duties.
“On behalf of the RPA and the players, can I thank the lecturers at Oaklands College for hosting and facilitating such a well organised and profitable afternoon, and inspiring so many of the players to sign up for the accredited course.”
