
The RPA works to safeguard its members' employment rights and welfare during their playing career, and support them in preparing for future career following retirement from rugby. The RPA Benevolent Fund, the Players' Charity, fundraises and provides financial support for players who have been forced to retire from the game due to serious injury or illness, and supports players' families in the event of their untimely death.
The officers and members of the RPA work in partnership with the game's governing bodies to further the cause of Rugby Union in this country.
Duties
The RPA are looking for a full time intern who will be asked to:
-research and write copy for a variety of RPA internal communications, including interviews with members
- assist with the generation and updating of content for the RPA website
- assist with the promotion of RPA events and fundraising activities
- help with a broad range of communications tasks under the management of the Communications Manager
Candidate Profile
Essential
- excellent copy writing skills
- knowledge and interest in sport, particularly rugby
- good interpersonal skills, telephone manner and verbal communication skills
- well organised, ability to work to deadlines
- attention to detail
- solid IT skills
Desirable
- experience of editing websites using a content management system
- knowledge of Photoshop
- demonstrable experience in media, PR or marketing
Terms and Conditions
This is an unpaid post. Working hours are from 09:15 until 17:45 Monday to Friday with a one hour break for lunch. The intern will be based at the RPA offices in Twickenham.
The RPA meets local Health and safety requirements for the intern and will insure placement students against accidents in the workplace.
